The conference, "Innovation in Accessible Transport for All" was held at World Bank Headquarters, 1818 H Street, NW, Washington, D.C. on January 14, 2010.
It took place in the margins of the annual Transportation
Research Board meetings in Washington, D.C. and focused on the role of
innovation in promoting effective solutions to the transport needs of
disabled and older people in both developed and less-developed
countries. The sessions in the one-day event covered innovation in
policy and governance, planning, design and technology for improved
accessibility. Special emphasis was placed on better understanding and
overcoming the barriers to uptake of innovative accessibility
initiatives.
