Skywalks in Mumbai

People with physical disabilities want better facilities to ensure that they can easily access the 50 pedestrian skywalks planned near railway stations across the city.

Somnath Chowgule of the Handicapped Welfare Service Association has a host of complaints against planners for neglecting the problems of physically-challenged people. As skywalks are sprouting, we have to ensure that they are built with escalators or lifts so that everyone can avail of the facility, he said. Chowgule said he had asked the state to ensure that senior citizens and people with physical disabilities did not face any problem while using the skywalks.
