Here at the Rolling Rains Report you read about the tourism industry adopting Universal Design. In the area of Inclusive Destination Development the convergence with eco sensitive building practice is very encouraging -- the work of Multi: Design for All in the Virgin Islands and the work of the International Institute on Disabilty and Inclusive Development in the Southern Cone of South America are bright lights in that area. Green Globe International is an important player in the sustainable tourism certification field. See their press release.

Green Globe to release new Company StandardGreen Globe is pleased to announce that the new improved Green Globe Company Standard will be released at the end of the month.
One of the key differences with the new Standard is the reduced compliance and cost burden of annual on-site assessments for those organistions with medium and low environmental impact.
Under the new Green Globe Company Standard the certification process will vary depending on the size and social and environmental impact of your organisation. Smaller organisations with minimal social and environmental impact are required to complete a simple risk assessment and self assessment checklist, while larger organisations with potentially high impacts are required to complete a more detailed risk assessment and self assessment checklist, and in some cases implement an Environmental Management System.
Over the coming weeks Green Globe will provide regular updates about the new Standard and changes to the Certification process. During this time, Companies that have already achieved Green Globe Certified Status will receive further information and guidance about the steps required to retain Green Globe Certification.
