Access Adventure is a program of the Solano Land Trust, and also works with the Muir Heritage Land Trust in Contra Costa County. Serving the people of the greater San Francisco Bay Area, the program operates on more than 16,000 acres of preserved open space lands. Solano Land Trust's Rush Ranch, located near Suisun City on 2,070 acres, straddles the Suisun Marsh, and is the headquarters for Access Adventure. The Muir Heritage Land Trust hosts Access Adventure as a user group on the spectacular properties they protect. Both land trusts have ample areas to explore with the horsedrawn carriages of Access Adventure.
From their newsletter:
The Carriage Association of America has developed an extensive system of carriage driving proficiency testing which has been adopted by ACCESS ADVENTURE to enhance our training protocols. Director Michael Muir, a graduate of the Level One and Road Proficiency testing in California, traveled to Florida for the Level Two testing and Instructor Certification held at Gloria Austin's beautiful horse resort and carriage museum. The four hundred acre property is home to more than 160 exquisitely restored carriages. Florida Carriage Museum and Resort website.
John Parker and Susan Townsend from England led an illustrious group of North America's most accomplished carriage drivers through three days of training and evaluation. The Carriage Association of America is helping us build our library of instruction and research material. Our goal is get our Rush Ranch headquarters certified as a Level One training and certification center. The training protocols will serve as the basis of our volunteer education program.
