It's right on my doorstep but I had only ever gone past it in the car. And I often thought: hang on a minute, I must visit Hadrian's Wall. Yet during my years of competing as a disabled athlete, the last thing I ever wanted to do with my time off was travel. I just wanted to stay at home and relax. So we hadn't really been on any family holidays since my daughter Carys was born seven years ago.
