Call for Proposals is Closing

The Adaptive Environments Call for Proposals is scheduled to close soon

Their conference, Designing for the 21st Century III seems an ideal setting to engage the travel and hospitality industry in a dialogue around Universal Design and the burgeoning worldwide market of travelers with disabilities.

This conference is set for December 8-12, 2004 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Here are some interesting statistics:

Travelers with disabilities spend $13.5 billion annually.

71% of disabled adults have traveled at least once in the past two years.

Personal recommendations figure in 85% of travel decisions made by travelers with disabilities

People with disabilities participate in cruises, air travel, hotels stays, package tours and car rental to a greater degree than thought prior to the release of the Harris Interactive study released by the Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality (SATH).

The full study may be purchased from Open Doors at (312) 640-5000, Ext. 222. URL: www.opendoorsnfp.org.
